The Douglas County South Shore Area Plan hearing scheduled for the TRPA Governing Board August meeting has been continued to the September Board meeting to allow the Agency time to include all necessary information in the Area Plan documentation.
The Douglas County Area Plan is the first plan to be considered for adoption under the 2012 Regional Plan framework, which transitions more permitting authority and opens redevelopment incentives to local government agencies in the Basin if there is an adopted Area Plan in place that meets TRPA’s high standards of environmental protection.
The Area Plan received a unanimous recommendation for approval from the 21-member Advisory Planning Commission earlier in August and TRPA staff is also recommending approval. The additional information is administrative in nature and no substantive changes are expected to the Plan. The Agency continues to be supportive of Douglas County’s South Shore Area Plan and recognizes that the plan will be covering new ground that other local governments will also tread.
