Stateline, Nevada – A draft environmental impact report/statement is now available for the proposed Kings Beach State Recreation Area General Plan Revision and the Kings Beach Pier Rebuild Project. The draft report will be available for public review and comment from May 1 through June 29, 2018.
The proposed project revises the 1980 general plan for the 13.91-acre Kings Beach State Recreation Area; expands the boundary to include the California Tahoe Conservancy’s 1.36-acre Kings Beach Plaza; considers potential land ownership transfer of the plaza to California State Parks for general plan implementation; and would provide a comprehensive framework for projects within and management of the state recreation area over the next 20 years. It also includes three alternatives for rebuilding the Kings Beach pier to increase its functionality, with a preferred pier location at the east end of the state recreation area.
California State Parks is the lead agency for the environmental impact report (EIR) for the Kings Beach State Recreation Area Preliminary General Plan Revision and the Kings Beach Pier Rebuild Project in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) is the lead agency for preparation of environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Kings Beach Pier Rebuild Project. Copies of the draft EIR/EIS are available online at http://www.parks.ca.gov/PlanKBSRA and www.trpa.gov/documents/. Hard copies may be viewed during normal business hours at:
