We hope you are enjoying this glorious Tahoe summer! This is a reminder that the end of the permitting and registration period for existing moorings (Phase 1) is September 30, 2019. Moorings requiring registration include buoys, boat lifts, and boat slips. Boat lifts or slips within a boathouse are considered a mooring as well.
If you have already registered your mooring this year, you can disregard this letter. If you have not yet registered your mooring, please visit www.laketahoeinfo.org/moorings to initiate the registration and permitting process by September 30, 2019.
Moorings eligible for Phase 1 permitting and registration include:
- those with a prior TRPA permit
- those with a valid state/federal lease or permit
- those that can demonstrate existence prior to 1972
After September 30, 2019 unauthorized moorings may be subject to monetary penalties and/or compliance action.
TRPA’s recently updated shoreline plan creates new programs to ensure shoreline structures and boating activity do not harm the environment, scenery, or recreation experiences at Lake Tahoe.
