Lake Tahoe, Stateline, NV – A final environmental impact report and environmental impact statement document is now available for Heavenly Mountain Resort’s Epic Discovery Project and proposed amendments to the 2007 Heavenly Master Plan.

The final EIR/EIS document is available online at https://www.trpa.gov/document/projects-plans/. Hard copies of the document will be available at the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe; TRPA, 128 Market Street in Stateline; Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, 2501 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe; El Dorado County Library South Lake Tahoe Branch, 1000 Rufus Allen Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe; and Douglas County Library Lake Tahoe Branch, 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, TRPA, and Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board directed preparation of the joint environmental document for the proposed project, located at the Heavenly Mountain Resort in El Dorado, Alpine, and Douglas counties.

Heavenly Mountain Resort proposes to expand year-round recreational opportunities within developed portions of the ski area in accordance with the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011. The Epic Discovery Project would add a series of summer and year-round recreational activities near the top of the gondola and the base of the Sky Express Lift, including a ropes course, zip line canopy tours, an alpine coaster, and mountain bike and hiking trails.

TRPA’s Advisory Planning Commission is scheduled to review the final EIR/EIS document and make a recommendation on certification on March 11. The TRPA Governing Board is scheduled to review the document for consideration and possible certification at its regular meeting on March 25-26.
