Public Comment Policy Update

Effective April 23, 2025, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) has updated the process for public input during Governing Board meetings to provide time-certain scheduling for members of the public and to allow sufficient time for Governing Board deliberations. The updated structure includes:

1. A 45-minute comment period on agenda items at the beginning of each Governing Board meeting.
2. If time does not allow all individuals to comment during the initial period, this portion of the agenda may be extended, or time will be allotted during the agenda item.
3. A general public interest comment period at the end of each meeting.
4. The agency will continue to accept written comments by mail or email at publiccomment@trpa.gov.

All those wishing to provide comment in accordance with these protocols will be heard. These changes are designed to offer time-certain opportunities for public input while also preserving sufficient time for Board deliberations. These updates are part of TRPA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a transparent and accessible public process.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) appreciates and considers all input from the public. We encourage you to submit written comment (email, mail, or fax) well in advance of the meeting date to give our staff adequate time to organize, post, and distribute your input to the appropriate staff and representatives. Written comments received by 4 p.m. the day before a scheduled public meeting will be distributed and posted to the TRPA website before the meeting begins. TRPA does not guarantee written comments received after 4 p.m. the day before a meeting will be distributed and posted in time for the meeting. Late comments may be distributed and posted after the meeting.

REQUIRED: Include the meeting information and agenda item in the subject line. For general comments to representatives, include “General Comment” in the subject line.
