The improvement project on Highway 50 running from Trout Creek Bridge to Ski Run Blvd in the City of South Lake Tahoe was completed and celebrated in a ribbon cutting ceremony at Lakeview Commons on September 13, 2013.
The project will collect and treat stormwater runoff as part of the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program (EIP). It will also widen the roadway to provide 6-foot shoulders for bike lanes, improve the roadway cross slope, replace traffic signals, and provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks, pedestrian lighting and landscaping. It is an important part of Lake Tahoe’s vision for “Complete Streets” and livable, walkable, bikeable communities.
Partners on this project include: Caltrans, Lahontan Water Quality Control Board, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the City of South Lake Tahoe.
