Repopulation following the Caldor Fire evacuation is not going well for some of the Tahoe Basin’s sensitive wildlife. Wildlife care and management agencies are responding to a high volume of bear issues and it is critical that returning residents and visitors be extra cautious and go to lengths to cleanup and secure food and trash.

  • Repair your home immediately
  • Don’t give food or water to bears
  • Get garbage removed and haul food waste out
  • Resist helping or caring for wildlife – it is resilient
